My entry has just been submitted for the Art & Risk 2024 Competition, dedicated to major natural and technological hazards.
The theme I chose focuses on natural hazards, illustrating the often complex biotic relationship between humans and the forest environment and the Fragility of the Mediterranean Forest
Through this artwork, I aim to highlight the specific threats facing the Mediterranean forest, particularly wildfires, one of the greatest risks to this unique ecosystem. The inclusion of carbonized twigs within the piece symbolizes this fragility and the invisible, often overlooked connection between people and nature. This work invites reflection on the ways in which humans interact with their environment, sometimes placing it at risk without fully realizing the consequences.
The purpose of my participation is to raise public awareness of environmental risks while using art as a powerful medium for communication and reflection. The Mediterranean forest, with its landscapes and species affected by wildfires, provides a compelling subject through which to explore these important environmental challenges.
